How a service call goes

  1. 1

You call or send a request

Tell us what's going on: what you see, hear or smell, and since when. A photo helps.

  2. 2

    We come and look

A plumber checks the problem at your house and finds the cause, not only the symptom.

  3. 3

    You approve the price first

We explain what's wrong and what it costs to fix it. Work starts when you say yes.

  4. 4

We fix it and clean up

We test the repair with you, take the old parts with us and leave the space the way we found it.

Austin is hard on plumbing in its own ways

Hard water

Austin's water carries a lot of minerals. They build up in water heaters, faucet aerators and shower heads and slowly cut flow and efficiency.

Clay soil and slab foundations

Clay swells when it's wet and shrinks in the dry months. Houses on slabs move with it, and so do the pipes underneath.

The rare hard freeze

Freezes are rare here, which is exactly why pipes in attics, exterior walls and hose bibs often aren't protected when one comes.

Water where it shouldn't be

Three things to do right away, before any plumber arrives.

  1. 1

Close the main water shutoff. It's usually where the line enters the house, near an outside hose bib or in the garage, or at the meter box by the street.

  2. 2

If the water heater is leaking, switch off its breaker or turn its gas valve to off.

  3. 3

Call us and tell us what you see.

  4. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call your gas utility's emergency line or 911 from outside.
